Gas Natural Fenosa receives Madrid Region ‘Most Equal Company’ Award for 2018

  • This award recognises companies for their corporate social responsibility actions in the field of equality.
  • The company has been recognised for its Comprehensive Diversity Plan, which has increased the number of women employed in the workforce as well as their promotion to positions of responsibility.

Earlier today, GAS NATURAL FENOSA received the ‘Most Equal Company’ Award for 2018 from the Madrid Region, which recognises companies that stand out for their corporate social responsibility actions in the field of equality.

Specifically, the company was recognised for its Comprehensive Diversity Plan (IDP), an initiative that was launched in 2015 and has increased the number of women employed in the workforce to over 30% of the total. Progress has also been made on raising awareness about equal opportunities and the presence of women in positions of responsibility. Over the years in which the IDP has been in force, the percentage of women in executive positions has risen from 25% to more than 27%.

The award ceremony took place at the headquarters of the multinational power company in Madrid and was attended by the Director-General for Women of the Madrid Regional Government, Paula Gómez, who handed over the prize to Cristina Escribano, Corporate Talent Manager of GAS NATURAL FENOSA.

Cristina Escribano underlined the success of this plan thanks to the commitment made by the executive team in creating a favourable working environment and raising employee commitment through socially responsible policies on equality.

This award was presented as part of the ‘Madrid Flexible Company Awards’ that recognise those companies in Madrid that favour equality and flexibility by promoting reconciliation and co-responsibility among their workers.

The panel for these awards is made up by representatives of the media, partner companies, the public authorities in Madrid and business schools such as ESADE and the IE Business School.

The ‘Most Equal Company’ Award joins other awards received by the company because of its commitment to flexibility, respect and commitment to its employees, such as the EFR Global Certificate (Family-Responsible Companies), which is given to outstanding companies in terms of promoting such values as reconciliation and equal opportunities. Along the same lines, the company also has the Top Employers certification, which recognises companies with the highest standards in working conditions and the working environment.
