Gas Natural Fenosa Renovables has brought into operation the Haría wind farm, in which it has invested 4.3 million euros. Located in the municipality of Agüimes, it is the first facility of this kind that the company is bringing into operation in the Canary Islands.

With an installed power capacity of 2.35 megawatts (MW), it will produce around 7 GWh each year – equal to the power consumption of some 2,900 homes.

GAS NATURAL FENOSA has 13 projects in Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura, which were awarded the largest stake in the latest quota from the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism, totalling 65 MW.

In Gran Canaria 45 MW of power capacity has been registered. In addition to Haría, the company is completing the construction of seven other projects, all of which in Agüimes, adding up to 39 MW: La Vaquería, Montaña Perros, Vientos de Roque, Balcón de Balos, Triquivijate, Doramas and Piletas I.

In Fuerteventura, where the multinational registered 20 MW, it has recently started works for the 4.7 MW project Fuenteventura Renovables II, located in La Oliva.

The investment associated to all eight of these projects (seven in Agüimes and one in Fuerteventura) which are currently under construction amounts to 58 million euros.

Of the 4 projects for which construction has not yet started, as the company is not yet in possession of all the required permits, two are located in Telde (Gran Canaria) and the other two are in Tuineje (Fuerteventura).

GAS NATURAL FENOSA’s commitment to the Canary Islands is demonstrated though these projects and its additional portfolio of wind and photovoltaic projects which are being processed for the company in the islands, to submit them in the coming wind and/or photovoltaic tenders announced by the Ministry of Energy, Tourism and Digital Agenda for 2018 and 2019.
