Francisco Reynés informs Argentina’s president of Naturgy’s wish to expand the presence of natural gas in his country

Naturgy’s chairman, Francisco Reynés, met the President of the Republic of Argentina, Mauricio Macri, in Buenos Aires yesterday, together with the Government Secretary of Energy, Gustavo Lopetegui, at the Casa Rosada, the Argentinian seat of government.

During the meeting, Naturgy’s chairman reaffirmed the energy company’s commitment to an investment plan that would enable it to continue increasing gas penetration in the country, provided it was accompanied by consistent regulation, well thought-out tariffs and stable economic conditions.

More specifically, he explained to the Argentinian president the company’s willingness to expand access to the natural gas service currently provided to Buenos Aires inhabitants in the 30 areas in the north and west of Greater Buenos Aires. During the 2018 financial year, Naturgy increased its networks by a further 218,000 metres, which enabled it to provide a service to more than 26,000 new households.

In the course of the meeting, Naturgy’s chairman expressed the company’s willingness, as one of the main gas distributors in Chile, to buy more Argentinian gas for the Chilean market, based on its stake in the Pacific and GasAndes gas pipelines.

He also thanked the Argentinian Government for the efforts it has made in recent years to normalise the country’s energy market and achieve greater stability.
