GPG, the international generation subsidiary of Naturgy, has started the commercial operation of the two Guimarânia I & II solar energy plants after seven months of construction and almost a month sooner than the contractual schedule.

These new parks will consolidate GPG’s renewables presence in Brazil with more than 150 MW of solar generation after the success of the Sobral and Sertao plants in the state of Piaui in the previous year.

More than 95 million euros was invested in these plants, including a land extension of 143 hectares, and they have set a new record in the implementation of more than 250,000 manufactured panels in Brazil (29%) and China (71%)

The expected annual production of these plants is 162 GWh, enough to power 80,000 homes and avoid almost 100,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions into the atmosphere.

These plants are associated with a generated power purchase agreement with CCEE (Câmara de Comercialização de Energía Elétrica) for 20 years at an approximate price of €76/MWh.
