Gas Natural Fenosa Renovables has begun construction on the Fuerteventura Renovables II wind farm. The farm, which is located in the town of La Oliva, will have two wind turbines and 4.7 megawatts (MW) of power. It will produce around 14 GWh each year—enough to power around 4,000 homes. This infrastructure will contribute to reducing the emissions of pollutant gases on Fuerteventura by 280,000 tonnes.
The investment to be made by GAS NATURAL FENOSA in this project will amount to 5.5 million euros. The wind farm will create some 40 jobs during the construction, operation and maintenance stages.
Gas Natural Fenosa Renovables was the company awarded the largest stake in the latest quota from the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism, with a total of 13 facilities in Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura, totalling 65 MW.
In addition, the company has a portfolio of wind and photovoltaic projects being processed in the Canary Islands, to submit them in the coming wind and/or photovoltaic tenders announced by the Ministry of Energy, Tourism and Digital Agenda for 2018 and 2019.

Gas Natural Fenosa Renovables currently has a consolidated total installed capacity in operation of 1,147 MW in Spain (979 MW from wind, 110 MW from mini-hydroelectric plants and 58 MW from cogeneration and photovoltaics).
The company plans to build various renewable energy projects in various autonomous regions over the coming months that will double its size by the end of 2019.
