The Naturgy Foundation’s Energy School has trained more than 11,000 people over the last 18 months, including energy vulnerable families and staff from community sector organisations and public authorities throughout Spain. The school has offered more than 1,000 energy consultancy sessions in 10 autonomous regions of Spain.
The CEO of NEDGIA, Nuria Rodríguez, attended a meeting in Brussels with the European Union Director-General of Energy, Dominique Ristori, together with the CEOs of the leading gas distribution companies in Europe (Italgas, Distrigaz Sud Retele, Galp Gás Natural Distribuiçao and GRDF) to discuss how natural gas and renewable gas can contribute to economic decarbonisation in Europe.
Accompanied by the Mayor of Plasencia, Fernando Pizarro, and the Chief Operating Officer Gas & Power of Naturgy, Manuel Fernández, the President of the Regional Government of Extremadura, Guillermo Fernández, inaugurated the Merengue Wind Farm earlier this morning – the first to be built in Extremadura.
Naturgy’s investment in this project will amount to €33 million and the company has created 150 jobs in the construction, operation and maintenance stages. This infrastructure will enable a reduction in the use of conventional sources of power generation, helping reduce CO2 emissions by around 53,000 tonnes per year – 1,304,800 tonnes over its life span – as well as reducing other environmentally harmful emissions.
The European Consortium ECO-GATE, co-funded by the European Union and led by NEDGIA, the gas distributor of the Naturgy Group, today presented the brand ECO-G, designed as a distinctive sign to rename natural gas for vehicles.
The projects to be built by the power company in Castile and Leon were presented earlier today by the Director-General of Energy and Mines from the Regional Government of Castile-Leon, Ricardo González Mantero, together with the General Manager of Naturgy, Ana Peris, and the company’s Renewables Development Manager in Castile-Leon, David Muñoz.
